My Top Ten Favorite Homeschool Supplies (With Links and Free Templates)

Here is my list of homeschool supplies that I am loving this new school year! Some are practical and useful, while others are just for fun or aesthetics!

Enjoy! And Happy Homeschooling!

 1. Craft/Supply Bags

We have been using dollar store magazines/book containers for my kids’ school books for a good two years now, and they haves worked great. But I was looking for something that would make transporting their books a little easier – especially during the summer when we go on trips and need to bring their books with us. Something that would protect their books, something easy to carry, and something that would fit extra books and materials when needed. I came across the idea of using craft bags on Facebook and we are so happy with these giant craft/supply bags for our curriculum, pens, books, and everything else we need to carry around with us!

 2. Sunflower Tea Cup

I found this beautiful sunflower tea cup to match my sunflower tablecloth (I found the tablecloth at Hobby Lobby) This is definitely not a necessity but I wanted to create an atmosphere each morning during school time where my kids and I can enjoy some herbal tea and cookies at the table while we work. This cup helps me set feel calm and comforted and dainty and I hope it helps me set that kind of mood and atmosphere for my kids. Instead of the frustration and anger that often arises while dealing with hard-to-figure-out-math-facts.

 3. Chalkboard Wall

One of my favorite things to do each month is color and plan on my chalkboard wall. I painted the wall with this Rust-Oleum chalkboard paint. It is in the dining room so everyone can easily see the plans for the month.

4. Presentation Boards (FREE printable templates)

You can find all the pages I used for these boards for FREE on Canva - here. The template includes - months of the year, days of the week, doubles addition, mulitiplacation tables, chore charts, and monthly calendar pages. Enjoy!
The boards can be found here on Amazon.

5. Varied Curriculum

We are trying out a few different curriculum options this year. To start, we are sticking with old reliable - The Good and The Beautiful. We use this for our basics of Math and Literature.

For History/Geography I have been loving - Beautiful Feet. This is mostly book based learning and it's been very nice to follow and even make our own unit studies using this as a base.

6. Sensory Bins

If you are into sensory bins and kits, I highly recommend the Young & Wild and Friedman kits. The playdoughs smell amazing and the kids are entertained for good chunks of time.

I have also made some of my own sensory bins using things like

Just start with some basics, throw in some toys and you're good to go!

7. Unit Studies

7. Binders

This blue and gold marble binder is so nice for organizing our calendar! I inlcude all our unit study pages, our book club planning pages, and the homeschool yearly planning pages.

8. Markers

I'm obsessed with these Primrosia markers. My two year old gets washable Crayola Markers, but my older two get to use these for special coloring projects and they love them.

9. Pens

I don't know why, but my kids hate using pencils - they love these Paper Mate pens for their school work instead - I know, not great cause then they can't erase. We're working on using pencils - but for now these are fun and colorful.

10. Pencils

Again, we are working on using pencils. I ordered this big pack to try and get my kids excited to use them and I also like that they are pre-sharpened so I don't have to waste time sharpening them.
