Chronicles of Narnia Book Club Movie Party - Tips and Suggestions

How-to-Host a Narnia Book Club Movie Day | The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe | The Chronicles of Narnia

Chronicles of Narnia - Homeschool Book Club

Last year, we started a small book club with some friends. We decided to read the Chronicles of Narnia and get together every other week for snacks, games, activities, crafts, and discussion. Then, when we finished the books, we would have a movie party - for the books with movie adaptations.

(Check out our 'How-to-Host a Narnia Movie Party Tips' Video Here.)

We had so much fun with the first book; honestly, it was a beautiful childhood memory to return to and share with my kids. I loved discussing the similarities between Aslan and Jesus and having my kids guess what they thought would happen next. We also had great fun discussing our thoughts with our friends, doing Narnia-related crafts, and trying new things like Turkish Delight!

At our first get-together, we made some very special book club membership cards. Here is a free download if you are interested in making your own!

  2. Sign in to Canva (You can sign up for free)
  3. Use the provided template, download, and print.

Our taste test of three different flavors of Turkish delight was a riot! The consensus among the kids was that it was good but not good enough to sell out your family! We all had a good laugh about it.

We had more discussion questions during our next get-together, and we made our own maps of Narnia!

Narnia Quotes

The following week, we did some copy work of our favorite quotes from the book like:

  • “Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight,
At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more,
When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death,
And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again.”

  • “Once a king or queen of Narnia, always a king or queen of Narnia.”

  • “Always winter but never Christmas.”

  • “What do they teach them at these schools?”

Narnia Movie Day Tips

And finally! It was movie day!

The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe Movie on Prime.

My mom is a party person, and I now follow in her footsteps. One of my favorite things in the world is creating a brand new world inside my home based on the world of a book—this one was especially creative and fun.

I created the 'always winter, never Christmas' Narnia in the family room - I love how magical and winterwonderlandy it turned out.

You can see my boys enjoying it, too.

To achieve this same look, here are some decorating tips:

  • Greenery: Use any kind of greenery you have, such as house plants, Christmas trees, tree trunks, pine tree clippings, and green plastic tablecloths.
  • Lights - Candles, fairy lights, lanterns
  • White Snow - Transform your space into a magical winter wonderland with white blankets, white plastic tablecloths, and storebought or homemade white snowflakes hanging everywhere, creating the illusion of white snow everywhere! (Snowflakes on Amazon)

Aslan is Here! Spring Has Arrived!

I created Spring Narnia in the dining room. Here are all of the decorating/food ideas:

    Decor

    • Flowers: Any and all flowers and greenery—if you've got it, add it to your table. The more spring-like the table, the better, so think light colors.
    • Fairy lights and candles.
    • Tree stumps and white food platters are great for a woods-in-the-spring look.
    • You can also use the Narnia Wall Art Posters included at the bottom of this post.

    Food

    • Fruit and Veggies
    • Flower Sugar Cookies
    • Mini Bundt Cakes
    • Whip Cream for Dipping
    • Mandalines

And finally! All our friends came dressed as their favorite characters and ready to enjoy food, friendship, and 'The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe'!

I think everyone had an enjoyable time; I know I did. And I hope it is a memory my kids and their friends look back on with fondness, nostalgia, and a bit of magic.
